This is the section of my blog where I am keeping track of terms that I feel are important to define, or that are unclear to followers and readers... I have categorized them as follows: Art Forms/Expressions, Substrates, Materials, Techniques, Educational, and Other.
(Note: If you are unsure of the meaning of a term I use in my posts or on my blog, please post it in the comment section under the latest posting, and I will transfer it here, for defining and sharing.)
1). Art Forms/Expressions

The ARTIST TRADING CARD is basically a variation of the well-known trading cards one can buy - same size (64 x 89 millimeters / 2 ½ x 3 ½ inch). But, it differs in the way it is produced. It is either an original or a very small edition. They are miniature works of art. one can make single cards or small editions. On the back of the card is the signature, the date and the number (if the card is part of an edition). All techniques and materials are allowed... (paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, rubber stamp works, mixed media, found images, assemblages, etc.). The only rule is the size: 64 x 89 mm or 2 ½ x 3 ½ inches. The concept of ATC is the person-to-person trade, as well as trading by mail. Although, the most fun is to trade person-to-person though. The basic idea is the card-for-card trade. And, there is no limit to the number of cards you can make or send us to trade for you.
- - - ALTERED IMAGERY
Altered imagery is loosely defined as altered art that uses photographic images as the starting point for the altered artwork. It centers around transfer processes, duplication processes, digital and hand alteration processes, and collage processes for photographic images.
